For the bridge competition, middle and high school teams must make a bridge constructed from only three materials: wooden craft sticks, fishing line, and carpenter's wood glue.
There have been very minor changes to our rules for 2026 compared to 2025:
There have been very minor changes to our rules for 2026 compared to 2025:
- Changed main distance units to inches (kept mm in parenthesis)
- Changed main force units to lbs (kept N in parenthesis)
- Added a section about deflection, basically stating if the lever arm contacts the bearing pad below, the bridge is considered to have failed due to deflection
- Added a bullet point to the materials section about Gorrilla Glue and similar materials not being allowed
- The figures at the end have been updated to reflect inches instead of mm measurements
